I began my Postal career in 1989 as a mail forwarding clerk in Northern VA. I came to headquarters in 1996. In the 18 years I’ve been at HQ, I’ve promoted stamps, worked in events, traveled with the Postmaster General and Board of Governors for more than a year, worked as the field liaison (helping the field PR reps), and for the past 11−12 years, I’ve worked in Public Relations/Media Relations and acted as the department liaison with the Postal Inspection Service. I’ve handled public relations and media issues for every department in this building at some point in time and my current beat is postal operations, which I’ve had for the past 10 years or so. This beat includes mail processing and delivery, facilities, post offices, vehicles, transportation, logistics, etc. I also do Postal Facts every year ⎯ hardcopy and online at usps.com/postalfacts.
