It’s All About the Box
More than 170,000 attendees from across the globe descended on the CES 2017 in Las Vegas last month.
A visually attractive and engaging booth helped the United States Postal Service® stand out among the more than 3,800 exhibitors occupying nearly 2.64 million net square feet of exhibit space.
While drones, driverless cars and home automation products scored with attendees, a stealth USPS debut product won over its own legion of fans. The new Priority Mail® Precious Cargo™ Boxes pulled in attendees to the USPS booth by the thousands.
The box is designed with foam inserts strategically placed to securely hold electronics without adding packing peanuts or air cushioning. This is an exciting innovation for shipping fragile items – particularly laptops, tablets, and smartphones.
USPS Business Alliances Specialist Dana Foster was one of the Sales staff that worked the show, talking to attendees about USPS products and services.
“Our booth has drawn incredible interest,” he said. “But the biggest magnet has been the Precious Cargo Box. They see how the box can help their business.”
He often had as many as four people waiting in line to talk to him about the box.
“People were actually excited about the Cargo Box,” said Business Alliances Specialist Brenda Jackson. “It’s been a showstopper.” In fact, the USPS presence at CES even made the news as we were featured in geekwire.com and circa.com.
The box is currently available in three sizes at the Postal Store™. The small box, designed for smartphones, costs $6.99. The medium box, designed for tablets, costs $12.99 and the large box, designed for laptops, costs $15.99. Each requires the appropriate USPS Priority Mail Flat-rate shipping postage in addition to the cost of the box.
The Postal Service™ presence also gave CES attendees a special glimpse into the future of the mailing and shipping industry, including Smart Mailboxes, Smart Blue Box and the Seamless Shipping Kiosk.
The Cargo Box Goes on the Road
CES isn’t the only trade show the Postal Service will be attending this year, in fact we intend to showcase the new fragile shipping boxes at over 65 shows around the country from a pizza expo to parcel forums. Trade shows offer a perfect platform to reach customers on their turf.
More than 700 Sales leads were logged by the Sales team during CES, providing the USPS 700 new opportunities to help customers mail and ship.
