With the closing weeks of summer and back-to-school sales, it was time for the Postal Service’s™ Great Lakes Area (GLA) Summer Marketing Intern LeeAnn Lugo to return to school at Michigan State University. The Great Lakes Area includes districts from Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Missouri, and Wisconsin.

“Working in the Area office, I have met people from all areas of the organization, from the clerks up front to the Area Vice President, all of whom play a crucial role in the business,” said Lugo.

Lois Gunlogson, GLA Customer Service Program Analyst – Retail, oversaw Lugo’s internship and appreciated her contributions. “It is great to have a fresh set of eyes…LeeAnn’s creativity and drive to get the Customer Experience Local Operation Center project completed and off the ground is a big step to improving the customer experience. We all hate to see her leave. She has been a great addition to Marketing.”

Lugo gained new insights about the business of USPS®. “Prior to my experience interning with USPS, I had never thought of how large the organization is and all of the different areas of business they are involved in from marketing to real estate to logistics and so much more.”

The internship also gave Lugo a glimpse of the reach of USPS and the many people who contribute to the organization. “Going into my internship, I had no clue how complex the Postal Service is and all the people that make it happen.”
