USPS participates in Dupage County safety awareness event

An estimated crowd of 2,000 attended “Safety Saturday” at the Illinois DuPage County Fairgrounds . The annual event hosted by the DuPage County Sheriff’s Office is a festive family occasion to heighten public awareness about safety and crime prevention. Local police and fire departments set up exhibits including opportunity to climb inside various emergency vehicles and look inside a helicopter ambulance. Community organizations also set up fun and informational exhibits which included USPS.

“The DuPage County Sheriff invited us to come,” said West Chicago, IL, Postmaster Tracy Willis “We handed out postal coloring books and commemorative stamp booklets to the kids.” Willis also provided mail fraud awareness information and handed out USPS job applications.

St. Charles, IL, Postmaster Cynthia Schwartz saw this as an opportunity to help local businesses. “I help them learn more about Every Door Direct Mail® as a way to advertise their business and product.”

With people of all ages stopping by the USPS booth, Willis and Schwartz kept busy answering questions about various shipping options and products.

“This was a great event to show that we care about our customers,” said Willis.
