Sara Martin
Since March 2018, I have been a public relations representative at USPS Headquarters in Washington, DC, but it took several steps and a few detours to get here. I began my career in 1987 as a clerk in a tiny Illinois Post Office and later worked as a letter carrier and a supervisor. In 2003 I was appointed Postmaster of Royal, Illinois, and was affectionately known as the “Royal Postmaster.” Eight years later I switched the focus of my career to Corporate Communications, working in Pittsburgh and Dallas before moving to Washington. I am a 2017 graduate of the Postal Service’s Managerial Leadership Program. I hold a bachelor’s degree in Letters, Arts, and Sciences from Penn State University and am currently pursuing a master’s degree in professional writing.
